The Blood of Dawnwalker walkthrough: open-world progression

Follow the open-world progression without missing time-critical quests.

Official copy says the family’s days are numbered and time moves when Coen takes on a quest. Launch-day playthrough guides treat that budget as 30 in-game days to reach Lord Brencis. Use the structure below to avoid wasting those days or missing prologue content.

Critical rule: Missables in the prologue

Laslea Prologue Warning: Do not rush to the valley gate. Every side quest and activity in the Laslea Prologue becomes permanently unavailable once you transition into Vale Sangora.

Clear all local objectives, speak to the townsfolk, and gather starting gear before triggering the main story transition.

The bustling marketplace of Laslea during the daytime prologue.
Laslea marketplace. Finish every available prologue interaction, conversation, and errand before leaving the town gate.

How the 30-day time budget works

Action Type Consumes Time? Mechanic & Rule
Free Roaming & Exploration No Running around Vale Sangora, scouting landmarks, and gathering does not tick the clock.
Combat & Random Encounters No Fighting wildlife, bandits, or lesser vampires does not cost time slots.
Completing Quests & Court Tasks Yes Finishing a major objective consumes a morning, evening, or night slot.
Hourglass Dialogue Choices Yes Prompts marked with an hourglass icon explicitly advance the clock.
Shrine Resting Yes Meditating at shrines explicitly passes day and night cycles.

Main progression: The 41 Court Activities

After the prologue, you can approach the vampire court in any order. To draw out Lord Brencis’s three high-ranking lieutenants, you must clear Court Activities in their respective regions until their anger meter hits maximum:

Point of No Return & Endings

Defeating the three lieutenants weakens Brencis’s dominion and rallies potential allies (such as Lacra and Crake). When you approach Brencis’s castle, the game will present a clear Point of No Return warning.

Before stepping inside, create a permanent manual save. See the all 7 endings guide for the exact dialogue paths, trophy conditions, and how to view every outcome in a single playthrough.

Frequently asked questions

Does exploring the open world advance the 30-day clock?

No. Roaming Vale Sangora, fighting roaming enemies, gathering materials, and fast travelling do not advance time. Time slots only move when you finish quests, complete Court Activities, or select dialogue choices marked with an hourglass icon.

Are there missable quests in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

Yes. All side quests in the Laslea Prologue become permanently missable once you finish the prologue gate and enter the open valley. Complete every prologue task before leaving.

How do you unlock the three vampire lieutenants?

Complete regional Court Activities across Vale Sangora (14 in Ambrus’s territory, 12 in Bakir’s, and 15 in Xanthe’s). Filling a lieutenant’s anger gauge unlocks their specific boss hunt.

When should you make a manual backup save for all endings?

Right before crossing the Point of No Return into Lord Brencis’s stronghold. A distinct warning dialog will trigger; make a hard manual save here to reload for all 7 endings.
